AT-flashback

"It’s almost impossible to plan for every situation, every whim, every factor that’s beyond your control, especially when you’re talking about roughly four months of backpacking through 14 states, 6 national parks, and 8 national forests and over more than 400 named peaks."
"The Appalachian Trail is difficult, disparaging and often uncomfortable. Yet, the lows are tempered by the highs, making the rewards entirely worthwhile despite the hardships you are sure to endure. Your life becomes simple; food, shelter, water; wake up, hike, go to sleep – rinse and repeat."

No book you can buy, read or study will lift your pack up to Springer Mountain in Georgia or to the summit of Mount Katahdin in Maine. Only you can do that. For yourself … or anybody or anything you choose.
And
No one finishes anything they don’t begin.
